National Skills Qualification (NSQ) Level 1 Early Years Child Care and Education (EYCCE) is designed for learners interested in working in early years settings as childcare practitioners. The programme equips learners with the knowledge, practical skills and professional attitudes required to support the physical, emotional, social, cognitive and educational development of children from birth to seven years.

Learners must achieve 15 credits, comprising 10 credits from mandatory units and 5 credits from optional units, together with 100 hours of supervised workplace experience. The programme covers safeguarding, child development, communication, health and safety, equality and inclusion, teamwork, planning, nutrition, creative play, school readiness, professional development, physical care routines, exercise and supporting children with additional needs.
